The Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 (CCCR, 2001) is a Canadian federal system that applies standardized criteria to product labels to provide consumers with information on the possible hazards of materials available for retail purchase in Canadian stores. A product may fall within 5 categories with further subdivisions based on certain product properties. Each category and subcategory has specific label requirements in addition to overall requirements relating to print type, contrast, legibility, durability, location and order.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regulates the labeling of hazardous household products in the United States per the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA) and Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). A product may fall under many different categories or subdivisions based on certain product properties. Each category and subcategory has specific label requirements in addition to general requirements for contrast, print type, legibility, durability, location and order.
